A new commitment to our customers
We’re here to help you through this difficult time. If you’ve been affected by the rising cost of living and are worried about paying your mortgage, please call us on 0330 159 7152. Contacting us won’t affect your credit file.
We’ve a wide range of options to support you. Which option is right for you depends on your individual circumstances. You can find more information in our Mortgage Worries section. The support includes*:
- Accepting lower payments for a short period.
And if you’ve got a repayment mortgage:
- Agreeing to extend your mortgage term, so your monthly payments are lower.
- Making only the interest payments for a while, so your monthly payments are lower.
If you’re in financial difficulty, we’ll always help and work with you to try and find a way to keep you in your home. However, sometimes a court may agree that the best option is for us to take possession. From today, we won’t do that for at least 12 months after your first missed payment. This doesn’t apply if you ask us to take possession or in some other circumstances (e.g. because your property is empty). We’ll only take this step as a last resort.
If the rising cost of living has affected you and you’re worried about paying your mortgage, please call us on 0330 159 7152. We’re here to help and will work with you to find the best way to support you.
We’ll review these arrangements and keep you updated.
*Please note that some of the options to support you might reduce your monthly repayments in the short term. But they may mean that you end up paying more over the life of your mortgage and, therefore, should only be used after careful thought. If you need further support, we might refer you to one of our partner organisations who we work closely with. You can find more information on our Independent Resources page.
